We all have to start somewhere, right?
That’s the idea behind This Will Never See the Light of Day, an upcoming podcast from Sarah Jean Horwitz that can best be described as “kidlit authors read things they wrote as kids.” Each episode of this podcast will feature a middle grade or young adult author reading a selection of their childhood or teen writings - everything from early picture books to embarrassing diary entries to old LiveJournal fanfiction. After some laughs and (gentle) heckling, Sarah and her guest will dive into a discussion about the author’s school days, their favorite books and writing inspirations as a kid, their journey to becoming a writer, and more.
A podcast for current and aspiring writers of all ages, students and teachers, and all fans of children’s literature, This Will Never See the Light of Day is a humorous look back at the early days of the successful children’s authors we know and love today. These authors’ stories are bizarre and funny and creative and above all, inspiring. We all have to start somewhere, and we all have the power to grow as writers and storytellers.
Sometimes it just takes a few years. ;)
